I recently tried to send a rather lengthy PM to another member and it told me that the message field could not be left blank...it was like it didn't recognize any of my text. I tried closing out of the message and then pasting the message material back in another message to that same user and it still wouldn't work. Any ideas?

There is a 3000 character limit to PMs. We recently became aware of the unexpected behavior when this limit is surpassed, as you are describing. It's on our list to clean up. In the mean time, you should be ok by shortening your message a bit.
