The Roster, The Fit, The Churn, The Bowl
As I outlined in an article two months ago, the 2018 and 2019 classes for Baylor are basically gone from campus. The inherited players from Matt Rhule either didn't fit, were injured, or didn't perform up to the standards of the current staff. A few 2017 Super Seniors were also eligible to play.In the bowl game, those were churned even further with four starters missing the game due to opt out or allegedly stupid out.Players eligible to be on the Class of 2017 Khalil Keith OL - starter, sent homeGavin Holmes WR - starterBryson Jackson LB - specialty pass rusherChidi Ogbonnaya DL - backupCole Maxwell DL - starterClass of 2018Craig Williams RB - backupByron Hanspard S - great for locker roomConnor Galvin OL - starterChristian Morgan S - starterBen Sims TE - starterMark Milton CB - starter that opted outIssac Power P - starter kicking into a 25+ mph windClass of 2019Jaylen Ellis WR - backupMatt Jones LB - starterWill Williams LB - backupQualan Jones RB - backupGarmon Randolph JACK - starterTJ Franklin DE - starterGabe Hall DT - starterElijah Ellis OL - back upNoah Rauschenberg K - starter, kickoff specialist13 starters of the 24 from these three classes and 2 were not available and 2 are kickers. Sights and Sounds of Baylor's Spring Game
Here are some quick observations of the 2022 Baylor Spring Game
First Scrimmage Notes: 4/2
We always hear murmurs and notes from several people and validating them is difficult at times, but here are some things I've heard from multiple people and one shocked me a bit. Bulletpoints....Running backs might be Craig Williams and Taye McWilliams Taye is the bigger back that wears you down, but not as physical as Abram, yetJordan Jenkins is running behind them and saw most of his time with 2nd team OLSqwirl hides and then hits the hole. He's healthy, but needs to stay healthy, but if he does he adds a new dimension2nd team OL got whipped by 1st team DL, 1st team OL won more than they lost against 1st team DLStrength program paying off for OL Jaxon Player is legit and causing trouble for with his motor and strengthApu needs to take conditioning/nutrition serious year round to reach his potential1st team OL going to be salty goodArmani Winfield is going to start if the frist scrimmage was indicativeSecondary needs repsGerry Bohanon took most 1st string reps with 1st string OLGerry has better zip on the ballBlake Shapen got a few reps with 1st string OLDrones still a work in progress, Rogers even with him or past.
