Key update on transfers and 2021 quick hitters
After talks that I have had it seems like six spots is the number that is being worked with at this time. I'll do a run through of some of the names with updates on them plus percentages and then I'll get into some 2021 recruiting as well. So let's get rolling.I'll have more of an article on Akron grad transfer offensive lineman Brandon Council coming off his official visit but I believe the staff feels good about where they are right now. He is one they want and he really enjoyed the visit. (51%)Youngstown State defensive end Justus Reed will be visiting in April and there is confidence that Baylor will be able to land him. Lots of competitions here but he has built a good relationship with the staff and the visit will help. (40%)North Dakota State linebacker Jabril Cox is the priority for this staff and someone they are trying to get on campus. We will see if that ends up happening but he has been in communication with the staff which is a good sign. (35%)Kilgore College DE/OLB Victor Obi will be visiting on the weekend of March 20th. Look for him to end up taking one of the spots remaining as he has built a good relationship with some of the staff. (60%)North Texas wide receiver Rico Bussey is another one who Baylor is trying to get on campus for a visit. They need to make sure his knee is fully healthy and I would classify him as a luxury/want not a need. We will see how that turns out and if he is good to go. Also heard a rumor that I don't know is true or not yet. So reports said he suffered a torn ACL but I heard that he got a second opinion and it was not torn so he didn't have ACL surgery. Again a rumor I heard but that would obviously make him even more appealing of a prospect if true. (20%)There are a couple names that I expect to surface a little later who could be added to this class at some point. I can't post the names yet but will when I can. This would be if there is room.Other Quick Hitters2021 wide receiver Ketron Jackson, wide receiver Hal Presley, athlete Cam Bonner, running back Jordan Jenkins, and linebacker Morice Blackwell were all names that I have heard coming off the visit. Jackson, Presley, and Blackwell are priorities who Baylor is in a good spot with. Bonner is a take as an athlete and thought to be close which isn't surprising. Jenkins is a take right now but there are other options in play for running back.2021 OL Matthew Wykoff released his top 7 and Baylor was not on the last. Heard he was not very happy about how he was prioritized on his visit so he left Baylor off. The staff will continue to work on him but my guess is that list was supposed to be top 8 then wasn't.Jardin Gilbert and E'maurion Banks did not make it but will be at the next one and the staff still wants them and the chances are still pretty good that they will be in the race for both.2022 wide receiver Evan Stewart is a guy to watch in the 2022 class. He is a priority already.
