Recruiting Quick Hitters Heading Into BYU Game
There are 10 commits visiting this weekend which is another solid number as Baylor has been in double figures each game this season as far as commits go. This is a very strong group and its important to have commits in the building sharing there stories, experience, and love for Baylor with the uncommitted guys who are attending these games. Here is the full list. The key areas this weekend are at wide receiver, offensive line, and defensive line as there are quite a few high priority guys on campus this weekend.SA Madison wide receiver Jordan Clay is a really good one and he has built major interest in Baylor over the course of multiple visits to Waco over the past year. He really fits what the staff is looking for an outside receiver and he reminds me of the Michael Pittman Jr./Vincent Jackson type of a power wide receiver who is very physical at the catch point and hard to bring down. So far this season he has 225 yards and one touchdown on a team that has thrown for 370 yards, one touchdown, and seven interceptions while completing 38% of their passes. The quarterback play is beyond horrific which will impact him this year but he is still producing. Lake Belton wide receiver Davion Peters and La Vega wide receiver Jabarie Thornton will also visit this weekend. Peters is a borderline four-star prospect who holds 11 Power Four offers while Thornton holds four Power Four offers. These are two more strong prospects for the Bears at a key position. Winnsboro wide receiver Camden Capehart has three Power Four offers as well and he is on the Bears radar as a slot-only type with a 4.28 40 time and a 10.08 100m.Baylor is in an awesome spot to have a very good wide receiver class in 2026 which will be just as important as this 2025 class. The overall depth and experience are severely lacking after this season. I expect the staff to invest heavily in wide receiver through the transfer portal to give them proven commodities going into next year and the year after while mixing in the strong recruiting classes. The hope certainly seems to be that they can get a couple elite wide receiver classes in then give them time to develop or play early if they are ready. This is a really solid group at offensive line as well. Killeen Shoemaker offensive lineman Troy Pless holds five Power Four offers and has been a consistent priority for the staff so far during this cycle as he has been on campus a ton the past year. Pasadena Memorial offensive lineman Devan Robison is back again this weekend for his second game visit in a row. It feels like Baylor is in a good spot for the 6-foot-3, 315-pound prospect and maybe he could be the first OL commit in the 2026 class.Euless Trinity OL/DL Pupungatoa Katoa is one of the most interesting prospects in the 2026 class. He is being evaluated by many teams on the offensive line and defensive line. Right now I believe he is being looked at for the offensive line at Baylor but at 6-foot-5, 390 pounds he seems like the perfect fit at nose tackle. This guy is a four-star type prospect and is going to be heavily pursued by many top schools. He has 13 Power Four offers and more will be coming his way soon. Baylor has made him a major priority in this class, we will see if they can build some momentum this weekend. The defensive line group visiting is probably the most loaded of the weekend. Bastrop four-star defensive tackle Tiki Hola has 20 Power Four offers and is one of the best defensive lineman in the state plus he fits Baylor's system really well. Stillwater (OK) defensive end Nehemiah Kolone was offered by the staff following a camp over the summer. He has six Power Four offers with one of those being BYU. At 6-foot-4, 255 pounds he has the size the staff is looking for at the position and showed good athleticism at camp. Richardson defensive tackle Jaimeon Winfield does not have a Baylor offer yet but I think that is coming soon. He holds four Power Four offers and the Baylor one should be soon for him. There is also a really good young guy in Lakeview Centennial defensive end Jaxson Wilson who has been at every home game to watch his brother Trey Wilson play. Jaxson is developing really well so far this season and there is a chance he ends up being the first commit in the 2027 class eventually.Obviously need to mention Connally cornerback Jamarion Vincent as well. The four-star prospect and top 200 player holds eight Power Four offers. He has been a focal point for the staff as they continue to try to build some success and momentum inn the Waco area. Vincent would go along way to building that momentum. On defense has an interception and two pass breakups so far this season to go along with 571 total yards of offense and nine touchdowns playing quarterback for the Cadets. The staff is continuing to evaluate 2025 taught end prospects as it is clear they want one in the class. Medina (TN) South Gibson tight end Gabriel Lovorn is an intriguing one as the staff is getting him to visit all the way from Tennessee plus he is done for the season with a torn MCL. The staff has clearly seen enough they like to bring him in so we will see what happens here. Rice commit Jordan Andrus is the other tight end visiting this weekend. He definitely fits the mold of a receiving tight end for this offense. Neither of these guys are guaranteed offers but it remains clear that the staff wants to land a tight end in this class. There are two 2025 priority targets visiting this weekend for the game as well but I can't release the names yet. Keep an eye on this and I will update when I can.
