Week of January 14th: Recruiting Thread
We are going to keep 2019 updates in the "inside info" thread we have been updating. Lets just keep these 2020 and beyond now. I'll be posting offers, videos, and info all week like normal. Add anything that you may see before me too. There were tons of new offers today that went out to Baylor targets.Dematrius Davis He doubled his offers today.https://twitter.com/Dematrius09/status/1085250981707829249https://twitter.com/Dematrius09/status/1085252680124170241https://twitter.com/Dematrius09/status/1085256241763549188DJ Graham https://twitter.com/davongraham5/status/1085237174193319937Tyson Meiguez https://twitter.com/TysonMeiguez/status/1085302662759936000Savion Byrd https://twitter.com/byrd_savion/status/1085334412064116736Donnell Harris https://twitter.com/5stardonell/status/1085325071227539456

New Year's Recruiting Notes
I am going to the All-American combine this weekend and the game. Hopefully I will be able to get some interviews with the 2020 guys so everyone can start to get to know them a little bit. Also I will get an interview with Jaylen Ellis, the lone Baylor signee playing in the game. Now lets start the New Year off right and get into some recruiting stuff-2020 OLB Tirek Austin-Cave (Camden, NJ/Camden) was impressed with the way the Bears finished the season. Baylor has remained in contact with him even though Fran Brown left. He talked to Fran on a "daily basis". But he told me something very interesting about that situation and I think it shows you not only that Fran is a great guy but also that Baylor will stay in a good position with its current recruits that Fran was the lead on. He said,"when he (Fran) left he made sure I was fine with the other coaches." He has been talking to a mixture of coaches now. Temple offered him right when Fran got there but I think Baylor is in the lead currently. Here is his film:https://m.hudl.com/video/3/8136642/5806e283f61708a5d8626f61-The Bears made an impression on 2020 LB Tyson Meiguez in the bowl game. He thought it was a "great win for the Baylor team over a good Vanderbilt team." I loved what he told me next which was that he thought he "could have made an impact by stopping the run game." Meiguez already has quite a few offers but this is a four-star type player to me and at a position of need, the Bears could really use him. The staff has been in constant contact with him and he is a priority. Currently the Bears are in a good spot to land him but bigger offers will come soon for him. Here is his film:https://www.hudl.com/video/3/7863834/5ba784fc041e3d0d84874a2d2020 RB Ty Jordan is going to be a name to get to know. There are a lot of great running backs in the state for 2020 so Baylor will get at least one if not two of them. He is in the mix for top 5 in the state at the position in my opinion and landing him would be big for this class. He was "very impressed" by the Baylor offense and it seems like he would be a perfect fit for the system utilizing his speed and quickness in the run game and the pass game. He is another one that Baylor is in a good position with at the moment but I would not call them the leader. Here is his film:https://www.hudl.com/video/3/9748845/5b9cb37cbd6a440f081a701aThis is more of a name to watch since he does not have a Baylor offer yet but I talked to him for a while the other day so I thought I would post some notes. 2020 OLB Shiloh Canady (Jacksonville, TX/Jacksonville) is a guy that would probably commit on the spot if offered and has been around the program quite a bit going to every home game. He told me he is going to "miss" the seniors on the team. He is working on his speed and footwork this offseason to make sure he has some versatility. He has some really good film and was extremely productive this season he had 96 tackles, 6 for loss, 4 sacks, 3 INTs, 3 PBUs, 5 forced fumbles, 3 recoveries. I also got him to send me some measurables. He is 6'1, 204 pounds and run a 4.60 40 hand timed. We will see if an offer comes but he loves Baylor there is no doubt about it. Here is his film:https://www.hudl.com/video/3/9453541/5bdc691a160032084485b8b2I talked to 2021 QB Dematrius Davis (Houston, TX/North Shore) fresh off of winning a state championship on a Hail Mary in one of the greatest finishes you will ever see in a championship game. He also won MVP in the game over his teammate and top three player in the country Zach Evans. He is Baylor's to lose at the moment and said, "the only coach that shows me love is Coach Rhule." He is going to let his recruitment play out this spring and then "might" make a big decision this summer. Here is his film:https://m.hudl.com/video/3/2753523/5bc234b10dc12504dc03d036All of this has seemed very obvious recently but a big note is that he is very close to some other big time players in the 2021 class. He gave me five names of guys he will be "pushing hard for." This list is filled with absolute studs:His teammate Shadrach Banks WR/LB (Houston, TX/North Shore)- Baylor offer. Has offers from everybody.https://www.hudl.com/video/3/10148751/5bc5feeeb018790c80dd336cLatrell Neville WR (Houston, TX/Willowridge)- Have wanted Baylor to offer him for a while but hasn't happened. Has offers from everybody.https://www.hudl.com/video/3/10961009/5b9699104210260ed88478b8Kendrick Blackshire MLB (Mesquite, TX/Horn)- Baylor offer and might be the best linebacker prospect in the country in 2021. Has offers from everybody.https://www.hudl.com/video/3/8360915/5bfeba77b3d3320578d61702Majik Rector WR (Lancaster, TX/Lancaster)- Does not have a Baylor offer but has a Texas Tech offer.https://www.hudl.com/video/3/9941866/5ba3cf89f31dc906c86bbb7aJoJo Earle WR (Aledo, TX/Aledo)- Does not have a Baylor offer but I really like his film. He has a Texas offer.https://www.hudl.com/video/3/8690008/5b974de33deaa508885f1899

National Average Rating

The National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a SicEm365 rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the SicEm365 Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide SicEm365 readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Baylor and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Baylor and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
