BREAKING: Four-star linebacker Jeremy Patton commits to Baylor

Baylor picked up a commitment from four-star Tenaha (TX) High School linebacker Jeremy Patton‍ on Saturday in a head-to-head battle with the Unviersity of Texas. Patton committed to Baylor over offers from Texas, Michigan, Arkansas, LSU, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, TCU, Tennesse and many others.

Patton becomes Baylor’s 20th commitment in its 2022 recruiting class.

As a junior in 2020, Patton rushed 103 times for 1,008 yards and 20 touchdowns and caught 15 passes for 362 yards and four scores. Defensively Patton racked up 120 tackles with six forced fumbles and returned one fumble for a touchdown. 

In his high school career Patton has rushed 217 times for 1,976 yards and 29 touchdowns with 37 receptions for 683 yards and seven touchdowns.

I was hoping we'd get both Brown and Patton, but to at least come away with 1 of the 2 potential greats is still fantastic!!!!!!

Wow, Patton could have been recruited as an O player. Let's not assume Baylor will not be a P5 school. The Big 12 and PAC 12 have possibilities. The Big 10 will not go quietly into the night as they poach the PAC 12. ESPN wants them as a Super Conference, too, so the Big 12, Pac12 and ACC have opportunities. This season is Important.

This article came out earlier this week. Their "good news" was just that some experts were predicting he would pick Mich.

" Patton is a three-star recruit out of Texas and is ranked 586th overall in the 2022 recruiting class. That alone won't get fans excited, but Texas has been pushing hard for the in-state prospect along with Baylor and the Longhorns seemed like they had it locked up.

But according to EJ Holland of Rivals (subscription required), Patton canceled his plans to visit Texas over the weekend, which caused Holland to flip his Futurecast pick from Texas to Michigan.

Flood of expert picks followed

Sam Webb of The Michigan Insider had a prediction for Michigan to land Patton but recently dropped his confidence level.

That was before this news broke and now, Steve Wiltfong, a national analyst for 247 sports, has projected Patton to Michigan football too, as well as a number of other experts.

At 6-foot-1, 210 pounds, Patton, who is announcing his decision on Saturday, would be huge for the Wolverines.

Not only would it be a nice win in the state of Texas, especially with Texas and Baylor both making him a priority, but he's also a former wide receiver who has great athleticism."
