Baylor Volleyball Prepares for Sweet 16 Match With Minnesota
MADISON, Wisconsin — No. 5 Baylor Volleyball is preparing to face the No. 12 Minnesota Golden Gophers in the third round of the NCAA Women’s Volleyball tournament. The match will be played Thursday afternoon at 2 PM CT in the UW Field House on the campus of the University of Wisconsin in Madison. It will be televised on ESPN U.
The winner of this match will move on to the Elite Eight and face either regional host No. 4 Wisconsin or No.13 UCLA. Those two play immediately after Baylor and Minnesota finish.
Baylor played both Minnesota and Wisconsin to start this season as part of the Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge. Wisconsin was the host that weekend as well, so we will see just how much all these teams have improved over the season.
Baylor beat Minnesota 3-1 on August 27th in a hard-fought match. The first and fourth sets were hotly contested while Minnesota ran away with the second and Baylor returned the favor in the third.
The next night, Wisconsin gave the Bears a bit of a rude awakening winning 3-1 with no set being particularly close. 25-16, 25-7, 16-25, and 25-15 were the scores.
Ryan McGuyre and his team will be looking to start well against the Gophers and carry that energy through the match to ensure they earn themselves another shot at the Badgers.
Here is what Coach McGuyre, Avery Skinner, and Yossiani Pressley had to say about what is in front of them at their media availability on Wednesday.
Sorry, for cutting in in the middle of things at the start, but the audio was not coming through from Wisconsin before then.
