Baylor WBB’s Smith Named Big 12 Player of the Week
WACO, Texas – Baylor’s NaLyssa Smith was named the Big 12 Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon. It marked the third weekly award of the season for Smith and the sixth of her career.
The senior forward averaged 26.0 points, 15.5 rebounds and shot 55.3 percent from the field last week. Smith scored 19 points to go with 15 rebounds in Baylor’s win at Oklahoma State. She followed that up by setting a career high with 33 points and 16 rebounds against Kansas.
Smith is now one of six Bears in program history to have 1,800+ career points and 1,000+ career rebounds.
The Converse, Texas, native is one of two players in the country to average 21+ points (21.6) and 11+ rebounds (11.4) this season. She has 19 double-doubles on the season which ranks fifth nationally and leads the league. That mark ties her for third in program history for single-season double-doubles.
