Baylor WBB Signees Tabbed Gatorade Players of the Year
WACO, Texas – Baylor women’s basketball signees Ysabella Fontleroy and Darianna Littlepage-Buggs were selected Gatorade Player of the Year in Missouri and Oklahoma, respectively. Both players are now in consideration for Gatorade National Girls Basketball Player of the Year.
Fontleroy is a 6-foot-2 guard from Springfield, Mo. She is ranked No. 8 in her position and No. 41 overall in the 2022 class by ESPN HoopGurlz.
Littlepage-Buggs is a 6-foot-1 guard out of Edmond, Okla. She's a five-star recruit that ranks No. 17 overall and No. 3 in her position according to ESPN Hoopgurlz. Littlepage-Buggs was named a Naismith High School All-American honorable mention earlier this month.
Littlepage-Buggs averaged 18.1 points, 11 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game at Classen High School last season.
In the last 20 years, nine Bears have received Gatorade Player of the Year honors 13 times.
As a whole, this recruiting class is considered a top-10 to top-15 class by ESPN and ASGR Basketball. Between the class and the Big 12 regular-season title, Nicki Collen is off to a hot start as her first year at Baylor finishes up.
