'Six Pack of Bear': OL Ylijaah Hall goes in depth

Offensive lineman Ylijaah Hall is the athlete many college coaches secretly dream of. He grabbed his first offer during a junior day; he thought about the offer, and he committed to the first school to offer him roughly three weeks later.

Seems simple enough, right?

For Hall, a Baylor offer wasn't difficult to process. And on March 7, the 6-foot-4, 270-pound offensive tackle from Bryan High school became head coach Matt Rhule's third pledge of the 2018 class. Now Hall is focusing on a promising senior season, which he hopes to parlay into a long, productive college career wearing green and gold.

This week's "Six Pack of Bear" focuses on Hall, an athlete with a great game, a unique first name (it is pronounced "Elijah") and tons of potential as an offensive lineman in Rhule's system.

YLIJAAH ... HOW OFTEN DO YOU HAVE TO EXPLAIN YOUR FIRST NAME TO STRANGERS?
"Almost 85 percent of the time. I might get a person every now and then who will say it right by accident."

BAYLOR WAS YOUR FIRST OFFER. WHAT MADE YOU SOLD TO COMMIT AFTER ONLY ONE OFFER?
"To be honest, Baylor was one of my favorite schools before I started getting offers. When Coach Rhule told me he wanted to give me an offer, I was in awe. I tried to keep my composure because I was around a lot of people [at junior day]. It was amazing."

YOU MADE IT TO THE SPRING GAME. WHAT WERE YOUR THOUGHTS OF YOUR FUTURE TEAM?
"I really loved it. I loved how hype the fans were and how in tune the players were. Overall, it was a pretty good experience. It was also great to see the coaches again."

FOR THOSE TARGETS CONSIDERING BAYLOR, HOW DO YOU SELL THE PROGRAM TO THEM?
"Put it like this: If they want to come to a school where there's great competition and you know you can get better competing against other great men, then come to Baylor."

MATT RHULE HAS MADE AN IMPACT IN SUCH A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME. WHAT IS IT ABOUT HIM?
"It's his pure honesty and pure dedication to the job. When I went to a spring practice, he made sure when they're doing drill between offense and defense that both sides of the ball were doing what they were supposed to do. He wanted to make sure everything was perfect. He's also a really, really nice man. He's very respectful and, overall, a good person."

TO THE FANS, WHAT SHOULD BE EXPECTED OUT OF YLIIJAH HALL AT THE NEXT LEVEL?
"They should expect aggressiveness and a sound mind."
