Baylor Softball Defeats Texas Tech 4-0, Wins Series on Saturday
WACO, Texas – Baylor softball shut out Texas Tech for the second time in the series, 4-0, Saturday afternoon at Getterman Stadium, securing the series win over the Red Raiders.
Aliyah Binford pitched a lights-out game, going the full 7.0 innings, and allowing just three hits with no walks and 10 strikeouts, the second-most in her career.
The Bears broke out the runs early in the matchup, going up 2-0 after the first inning. Josie Bower tripled in Ana Watson, who was hit by a pitch, and then scored on a wild pitch.
After pitching four straight three-up, three-down innings, Binford allowed the first hit of the game in the fifth.
Emily Hott recorded Baylor’s second hit of the game in the third inning, a leadoff single through the left side.
BU scored again in the fourth inning, after Hott was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, bringing home the third run of the day.
The Red Raiders threatened in the sixth with a runner on third, but Binford struck out the last batter to diminish the threat.
Driving in a run with a groundout in the bottom of the sixth, Hott recorded her second RBI of the day to score pinch runner Ashlyn Wachtendorf and put the Bears on top, 4-0. The 10th strikeout from Binford and two groundouts closed out the top half of the seventh, securing the Bears’ second-straight complete-game shutout.

TOP QUOTES
Glenn Moore on the game…
“What an amazing performance by Aliyah! She could have beaten any team in the country today. While I would like to have more hits you have to look at the number of free bases we have been given and the quality at bats that resulted from them was the reason for the 4 runs. Emily Hott and Josie Bower continue to play big roles for us.”
