Lakeview Centennial 2023 EDGE Trey Wilson commits to Baylor

Baylor has landed a commitment from Lakeview Centennial High School defensive end/outside linebacker Trey Wilson‍. He took an officialy official visit in June. He becomes commit No. 23 in the 2023 class and the third pass rushing type prospect joining Corey Kelly‍ and Trent Thomas‍.

2023 BAYLOR FOOTBALL RECRUITING COMMITMENT LIST

The 6-foot-4, 240-pound prospect has built a really strong connection with his lead recruiter, Dennis Johnson, throughout the process.

The Texas District 9-6A first-team selection at defensive end took offical visits to USC, Utah, and Washington before deciding on Baylor this weekend.

He chose Baylor over 32 other offers including USC, Utah, Arkansas, Washington, Florida State, Miami, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Stanford, TCU and Texas Tech among others.

Star ratings are a joke. If this guy had committed to Texas he'd be a 4-5 star recruit. Great job Baylor coaches and welcome to Baylor young man. You made a great decision.

Star ratings aren't everything. And sure, they get some wrong. But to say they dont matter or are a joke I believe is misguided:

I saw something a few years back that was saying something to the effect that no National Champ had recruiting classes outside the top 5 in their few previous years before... meaning they had the most 4 and 5 star recruits.

What is a joke, and rightfully so, is ut; and that is what I believe makes us think the star rating system is a joke. It has the most immediate influence on us because we play them all the time and they lost to Kansas. (That last part was irrelevant but fun to add). That's why we find ourselves saying stars dont matter - because when discussing ut, they dont.

But looking outside of ut, they do.
