Micah Mazzccua and Grant Miller: Coach Aranda, Culture, and Movies
Baylor football offensive linemen Micah Mazzccua and Grant Miller joined Paul Catalina for an Athlete+ interview.
Highlights:
- Mazzucca and Miller work with each other a lot and hang out a good bit.
- The DL has no drop-off with the second string. And it makes the OL better.
- Miller played Apu in the 2019 Vanderbilt vs. LSU and Grant was not excited to go against a team where Apu was the backup.
- Miller feels awkward sometimes in public because he gets a lot of attention due to his size. He mentioned Aranda likes to take the back door so he doesn’t draw attention himself, and Miller appreciates that.
- Often times coaches can come across as business-like or political, but Aranda makes things feel personal even when he’s around a large group.
- Micah likes playing dice. He enjoys the mind games and trash talk parts of it. Those things can easily translate to football. He’s a “mellow assassin”.
- Miller enjoys wiffleball. He was a big Prince Fielder fan.
- More on why Jacob Gall is Batman, and more movie opinions.
- Grant Miller hates the movie WALL-E. Two hours of his life he will never get back.
- How has this team built a culture of work without obligation? Coach Aranda has gotten them to see it as a job of self-improvement. You get out what you put in.
- They think that guys have been very serious since last season, taking things to another level, and improving themselves over the offseason.
