Baylor Soccer’s Kayley Ables Named to Preseason All-Big 12 Team
IRVING, Texas – Baylor soccer’s Kayley Ables was named to the 2022 Preseason All-Big 12 soccer team, announced Monday by the conference office.
Ables, a fifth-year senior, received All-Big 12 second-team honors last season after helping lock down the field in contributing to the Bears' eight shutouts, including four straight in conference play. She collected her third Big 12 weekly award last season, as she picked up the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honor for her work in back-to-back shutouts against Iowa State and West Virginia.
A four-year starter for the Bears, she has been a part of the Baylor backline that’s been dubbed the “No-Goal Patrol.”
This marks Ables’ second preseason honor, as she was previously selected before the 2019 season.
One of three defenders on the honorary team, Ables was selected alongside two defenders who were named to SoccerWire.com’s “Defenders to Watch in NCAA Women’s Soccer for 2022” in West Virginia’s Jordan Brewster and Texas Tech’s Macy Blackburn.
