Defending Texas State — Key Players and Matchups

As I stated in my preview for Baylor’s offense vs Texas State’s defense, Texas State is not a good team. Their head coach is Jake Spavital, an offensive guy whose decade prior to taking the head job at Texas State involved being the QB coach for Dana Holgerson at West Virginia, the offensive coordinator at Texas A&M under Kevin Sumlin, the OC at California under Sonny Dykes, and then the OC for Holgerson at West Virginia. Those are offense bonafides, no doubt.
