'6 Pack of Bear': There's no stopping OL Jackson Kimble

Southlake Carroll High School offensive lineman Jackson Kimble is a perfectionist and wants to come out on top in everything he does.

Everything.

Last Saturday, Kimble showed a different kind of determination, a non-football-related effort that earned him additional social media street cred. The versatile offensive lineman -- and Baylor's first commitment of the 2018 class -- conquered the 72oz Challenge at The Big Texan Steak Ranch, a popular steak house in Amarillo. The challenge includes eating an entire meal -- including a shrimp cocktail, baked potato, salad, roll AND a whopping, 72-ounce steak -- in less than an hour.

Kimble finished with seconds to spare. It's a daunting task even for a 6-foot-5, 270-pound offensive lineman, but Kimble proved it's not impossible.

That seems to be his daily motive: Show the world that nothing is impossible. Kimble is an athlete not only looking to do big things early during his college football career but also silence his critics with everything he does. As Baylor's first 2018 pledge, he has taken a leadership role in making sure other commits -- and targets -- follow suit. The next few months will be all about setting the bar -- and then raising it.

Kimble took time from a vacation in the mountains to speak with SicEm365 for this week's "6 Pack of Bear." Committed since February, Kimble spoke about his class' potential and a couple of names he'd like to call teammate in college. He also spoke about taming the beast that is a 72-ounce steak.

YOU JUST DOMINATED A CHALLENGE THAT INCLUDED 72 OUNCES OF STEAK ... 72 OUNCES! WHAT WAS THAT LIKE?
"The steak challenge was hell during, but I have a lifetime worth of bragging rights now, so that's pretty cool, and my name is in the restaurant."

YOU WERE BAYLOR'S FIRST 2018 COMMIT. THE CLASS HAS REALLY GROWN SINCE YOUR COMMITMENT. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT IT?
"I love it. Being the first commit is huge and automatically puts me in a leadership position, but at the end of the day, no one cares whether you're the first or last commit. It's a team sport, so if I can get guys 'rated higher' than myself, then let's do it."

SO MUCH IS SAID ABOUT THE SPEED IN THIS CLASS. WHAT ABOUT THE PLAY OF THE BIG GUYS UP FRONT? WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS OF THE LINEMEN?
"I love our speed in the class; speed kills. But we also have five big guys committed (3 OLs, 2 DLs), and we all have speed, too. I think the strength of our class will end up being the big dogs up front."

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING TO GET YOURSELF BETTER FOR THE UPCOMING SEASON?
"I'm just getting healthy and working on my conditioning and footwork."

THERE'S STILL TIME FOR YOU TO ADD BIG-NAME RECRUITS? WHO ARE YOU LOOKING TO ADD ... AND WHY?
"Gerry Bohanon at QB, because we need a QB -- and #B2B. We also want Connor Galvin from Katy, because he's a beast, and he will make the O-line a better unit."

BEFORE YOU HEAD TO BAYLOR, YOU HAVE ONE MORE YEAR WITH YOUR HIGH SCHOOL. WHAT SHOULD THE DALLAS-FORT WORTH COMMUNITY EXPECT OUT OF CARROLL THIS YEAR?
"The DFW should expect an underrated, undersized team to go out every Friday night with laser discipline and focus to be able to compete with the best teams in DFW and come out with many wins."
