WACO, Texas – After a pair of historic top-25 wins on the road, the Baylor women’s basketball team was named ESPN’s Team of the Week, while junior guard Sarah Andrews was selected as the National Player of the Week.

Andrews finished the week averaging 28.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, while shooting 50.0% (18-for-36) from the floor, 47.1% (8-for-17) from 3-point range and 86.7% (13-for-15) from the charity stripe.

The guard opened the week with a career-high 30 points against the Sooners, becoming the fifth player in the Big 12, and first in conference play, to turn in a 30-point performance this season. Andrews went a career-best 9-for-11 from the free-throw line and a team-high 5-for-12 from behind the arc, while going without a turnover in 36 minutes of action.

In Saturday’s win at Kansas, Andrews notched her second-highest scoring output of the year, finishing with a game-high 27 points. The Irving, Texas, native logged a full 40 minutes, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line, a game-best 3-for-5 from 3-point range and a career-best 10-for-16 (62.5%) from the floor.

For the first time in program history, the Bears won consecutive games against top-25 opponents on the road, besting Oklahoma, 81-70, and Kansas, 75-62. Baylor held the Sooners, who sat atop the Big 12 in scoring, to 18 points below their season average in the Bears’ second top-25 win of the season. The Bears went to Kansas and continued their win streak against the Jayhawks, picking up their 18th-straight, to start conference play with an untouched 3-0 record for the third time in five years.

In this week’s ESPN women’s college basketball Power Rankings, the Bears checked in at No. 15. The updated AP Top 25 Poll is set to be released Monday, while the USA Today/WBCA Top 25 Poll will be updated on Tuesday afternoon.

Baylor returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Oklahoma State inside the Ferrell Center at 7 p.m.
