Baylor Women's Tennis Wins Third Straight with Shutout of Aggies
WACO, Texas – Baylor women’s tennis (14-11) won its third straight with a 7-0 shutout of New Mexico State (10-12) on Sunday night at the Hurd Tennis Center.
Liubov Kostenko and Danielle Tuhten teamed up to earn their second-straight doubles victory, securing the 6-1 win at No. 2. A 6-3 decision by Daniella Dimitrov and Lauren Littell on No. 3 helped the Bears collect the opening point.
An impressive 6-1, 6-0 victory by No. 95 Isabella Harvison on No. 2 extended Baylor’s lead, while a 6-1, 6-3 win by Daniella Dimitrov at the No. 3 position made it a 3-0 advantage for the Bears.
In her second singles appearance as a Bear, Littell clinched the match for BU with a 6-4, 6-3 decision on No. 6. Brooke Thompson fought back from an opening-set deficit, picking up her third win of the season, while Anita Sahdiieva won by default on court one to complete the sweep of the Aggies.
Baylor wraps up nonconference play and its three-game homestand against SMU on Monday at 6 p.m. Prior to the match, the Bears will celebrate head coach Joey Scrivano's 500th-career win at Kansas State on March 19. Additionally, the program's two seniors, Isabella Harvison and Paula Barañano, will be recognized for their success with the Bears.
