As the energy and excitement of the 2023 season continue to lay the foundation for a new era of Women’s Basketball, Baylor appears to be in hibernation mode from the outside looking in. The Bears have fallen below their established standards the past couple of seasons with the coaching change from Kim Mulkey to Nicki Collen, which wasn’t aided by Mulkey’s National Championship run with LSU in her second season on the Bayou.

Nice write up - I love being under the radar when next season starts.
Unfortunately (in a good way - yes that is a contradiction - but you know what I mean.), that anonymity will not last long as the team gets into early season play.

I do not think we are done yet with the portal.

I think the only other player we go for is Morrow but I fear it will have us lose someone if we did.

1. Athletic
2. Height
3. High BB IQ - passer
4. Grit

Think Taller, Faster, Higher Vertical, Stretch the defense (ie 3 Ball), cross court passing Caitlin.

Well, I guess there are advantages of being under the radar, but I'd prefer to start with a high ranking. We certainly have the potential to move up.. I do hope we can get into the top 16 when it comes tourney time, as although not always, chances of getting to the Sweet 16 improve by having the home court advantage in the first two rounds.

I'm not surprised we weren't ranked. We will need to work our way up. The encouraging part is that we should have the team to get off to a good start and avoid upsets. As the year wears on we should get ranked. If we are as consistent as I think we will be we will have a good chance to host the first round of the tournament.
