Baylor has landed a commitment from China Spring (TX) High School 2024 athlete Greydon Grimes‍ as he becomes commit No. 6 in the 2024 class. He committed to Baylor over offers from North Texas, UTSA, Texas State, and Louisiana among others.

BAYLOR 2024 RECRUITING COMMITMENT LIST

The 6-foot-6, 240-pound prospect is the son of Baylor offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes.

He plays tight end and defensive end at China Spring so he is definitely a versatile athlete. On his last visit, Dave Aranda told him that he can play tight end or defensive end to start so they have given him lots of freedom in that regard. Matthew Powledge wants him on the defensive side.

Grimes will take his official visit to Baylor on June 16th.

Sounds like a high upside, versatile prospect!

I also like what it says about Coach Grimes future with the Bears. He's often name checked as a head coach option, but if he advised his son to come to Baylor, shows that he has genuine affection for the place and may want to stick around a while.

I sometimes head-scratch at Grime's play calls, but there's no question he's brought a better identity to our offense than where we were before his arrival. I'd like to see a few more years of this system, and our players (and his son!) continuing to grow in it.

Apparently we don't have to use a scholarship on him so long as his dad stays on staff. That's a big positive
