“I would say there was a lot more personal connections with my Baylor visit which was really important to me,” he said. “From Dave Aranda to the whole staff it felt like it was personal to me even though there were five or six other guys there on the visit. They made it personal with each player and that was important. I wanted to make sure wherever I go they care about me personally and I think hat was especially true with my Baylor visit. I loved my Oklahoma State visit too but I would say that the person over player motto is definitely stronger with the Baylor staff.”
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound linebacker prospect totaled 107 tackles with 12 for loss during his breakout junior season. The staff views him as a WILL linebacker in Baylor’s defensive scheme and have even compared him to former Baylor great Terrel Bernard.
“When they offered me they all unanimously thought I played like Terrel Bernard,” he said. “Dave Aranda was saying the way I move is similar to him, and we have a lot of the same measurements in high school. My lateral quickness and playmaking ability are similar.”
Tate is currently rated as a high three-star prospect with an 88 rating on SicEm365 and On3. He is a high three-star with a 5.7 rating on Rivals. Currently 247 has him with the lowest ranking as a low three-star with a ridiculous 82 rating which was moved to an 84 this morning.
He holds 15 offers total from schools such as Oklahoma State, Boston College, Washington State and Arizona State among others.
