WACO, Texas – Baylor women’s basketball head coach Nicki Collen welcomed Kianna Ray to the staff on Thursday as the program’s director of recruiting and player influence.

“I am thrilled to welcome Kianna into the Baylor family,” Collen said. “As a student-athlete at TCU, she personified our core values and the ‘greater than’ mentality earning both All-Big 12 and Academic All-Big 12 accolades. She is highly intelligent and possesses the leadership skills necessary excel in this role. In addition to overseeing recruiting operations, Kianna will also be involved in educating our student-athletes on NIL opportunities and helping them elevate their image and expand their influence. Our players are going to connect with her energy and love for the game, and this is just the beginning in what I know will be a successful career for Kianna in the basketball world.”

A standout at TCU from 2016-20, Ray served as a graduate assistant for the Horned Frogs women’s basketball program during the 2021-22 season. Ahead of the 2022-23 campaign, she was promoted to a full-time role, serving as the team’s coordinator of video operations and analytics.

During her time on the court, Ray was a two-time All-Big 12 selection and four-time Academic All-Big 12 honoree. She totaled 1,170 career points, 466 rebounds, 401 assists, 205 steals and 133 blocks with the Horned Frogs. Ray, who hails from Austin, was the first player in TCU history to score at least 1,000 points, dish out 400 assists, tally 200 steals and register 100 blocks in a career. Additionally, she was just the 14th NCAA Division I player to post those numbers since 1999-00.

A 2020 graduate of TCU, Ray received her bachelor’s degree in strategic communication with a minor in business. She went on to earn her master’s degree from her alma mater in educational leadership with an emphasis in higher education.

“I am overly excited about my role with the Baylor women’s basketball program and being able to work closely with recruiting operations of high-level prospects while supporting current student-athletes,” Ray said. “Baylor is a successful, respected program in a highly competitive conference. To be given this opportunity by Coach Collen, and work alongside her staff, is an honor. I’m fired up about being in the Green & Gold and a part of the Baylor family.”
