We have several cb's that can play. If the d line steps it up then the defense could be much improved this year.
Baylor Football
Cornerback, Jameson Houston (5-11, 190) | Austin (TX) St. Michael's Academy
— Houston was signed out of high school because of his size and his speed and, despite a two-star ranking by at least one outlet, Houston held offers from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Purdue to go along with Baylor.
— As it has been from day one, Houston's biggest issue comes from being a physical player when needed. He has the size, the tools and the mental makeup to make up for his lack of a physical nature, fortunately, and he has three seasons to put it together.
— Interestingly enough, when I asked Matt Rhule at Big 12 Media Days for one player on defense who he believed would have a breakout season in 2017, Houston was the name that he mentioned. No specifics as to why were given, but the name came a little at a surprise to me.
— With two career starts (10 games total) under he belt, Houston has defended four passes and collected 15 tackles, while also having the big strip and fumble recovery at a crucial moment against Texas after being beat initially.
— Of all corners, I personally believe that Houston will benefit the most from Phil Snow's defensive scheme.
— Houston's career feels as though it's going to be one of those love-hate type relationships with Baylor fans, but maybe that's all Baylor cornerbacks in recent memory with the exception of Xavien Howard.
