One of the features I mix into my game week previews is an advanced depth chart which looks at experience, size, speed, and other measurable factors to get a deeper sense of a roster. So how does the 2023 Baylor roster stack up?

Below I break down which players are on Baylor’s depth chart. Names highlighted in red are out injured. The testing times from either their time as a recruit or in pre-draft workouts are below.

If we have the talent some say we have it must be the coaching

We don't have the talent that some say we have - just watch the friggen games - it's obvious- oh and we don't have the coaching either

After looking at this breakdown, its clear that we have a roster that is not ready to compete for 5-6 wins, much less 8-10. After looking at this data, I have no idea how the 365 staff had write-ups back in the spring that projected us to be a 7-8 win team, even telling us our offensive line was athletic and better than what we had last year. I know I ended up with unrealistic expectations. The question is, can we use the rest of the year to help develop the right kids who will help us in 2024. Forget a bowl game, we should be focused on development for the rest of 2023.

Coaching staff knows what we have and what we need. The portal is the answer and realistic evaluation on the current players. Need a huge talent infusion and an offense kids want to play in. We have neither the talent or the scheme so far. Need a o.c. change. The wide zone run has been terrible. It is the reason the players Start flat. It is also the reason targeted players are choosing other universities. Come to Baylor and play dull , losing football. Time for big changes at Baylor. 4 years is enough for the current vision.
