Very glad to have him with us this year. We definitely need his presence and experience.
Baylor Football
QB, Anu Solomon (6-1, 212) | Las Vegas (NV) Bishop Gorman
— The first thing to remember about Solomon is that he is heavy on the experience side. As a redshirt freshman at Arizona in 2014, Solomon led Arizona to a 10-4 record and a trip to the PAC 12 Championship game against Oregon. He threw for 3,793 yards and 28 touchdowns to nine interceptions.
— That was, however, the peak of Solomon's career in Arizona as injuries plagued him for the next two seasons, missing eight total games including two as a sophomore and six as a junior. Solomon was injured in the first game of the 2016 season against BYU where he completed 20 of 30 passes for 213 yards and two interceptions. He missed the following six games.
— In a season that will likely go based on the progression and health of the offensive line, Solomon provides the best mobility of he and sophomore Zach Smith. If Solomon eventually wins the starting job, this strength is likely the reason why.
— If nothing more, Solomon provides a solid and experienced backup quarterback to Zach Smith. If Baylor's luck with QB injuries continues at the same pace of the last several years, Solomon will receive his opportunity to play one way or another.
