The Monday Revue — Where To, Baylor Family?

I had rather low expectations going into this game, but it was still stark to see it for real. It’s one thing to say, “Depressingly, I think this solid team is going to come into Waco and thoroughly handle Baylor,” and it’s another to suffer through it live.

Iowa State is a solid team. They’re in that 30-40 range nationally in every advanced system I’ve looked at.

Nothing Ieft for this year. In order to save our talented athletes from leaving via the portal it is time for a complete change. If we wait we will lose eve n more. With a change we can have good direction in recruiting and the portal. A new coach/staff with Texas high school roots will change everything. Our current recruiting class has offers from no one. We are at the bottom and are re recruiting to stay there. We need monster talent input from the portal but they will not come to play for our staff and scheme.

I know that Baylor is not the only one to jump the gun on offering contract extensions based on one outstanding year, but they really blew it by offering an extension through 2029.

Baylor won the Big 12 and the bowl game using Matt Rhule recruits. Every tight game broke for Baylor that year.
They also had a great recruiter in Coach Joey McGuire who has been gone now for two years.

The results speak for themselves. Iowa State had a down year last season and started very poorly this season, but you can see the level of coaching that Matt Campbell brings. With turmoil at the start of the season and losing the starting quarterback, they have dug themselve out a deep hole. He is not working with the hottest of high school prospects but he sure gets the most out of them. Matt is definitely a strong character guy who has built a very positive culture.
