Walker missing a lot of close shots but her defense has been too good to take her out. Edwards has been great running the floor and putting up quick points.
Gameday Thread: No. 13 Baylor vs Oregon
WACO, Texas – The No. 13 Baylor women’s basketball team returns home to host the Oregon Ducks on Sunday.
The game has been tabbed Baylor’s annual ‘Holiday Hoops’ contest and tip-off is set for 1 p.m. at the Ferrell Center.
The game is available nationally on FS1. Live in-game updates will be provided via Twitter and live stats.
STARTING FIVE
Baylor has scored 80-plus in all six of its contests to start the year for just the fourth time in program history. The last time it accomplished this feat was during the 1977-78 campaign. It’s the first time since the 1975-76 season that all six games were wins by the Bears.
The Bears finished the month of November a perfect 6-0. It’s the first time since 2018-19 that Baylor went undefeated in the opening month of competition and just the ninth time since the turn of the century that the Bears have done so.
For the third-straight year under the direction of Nicki Collen, the Bears earned the win in their first true road game of the season, taking down SMU in Dallas on Thursday, 85-61. The 24-point victory marked the fourth 20-plus point win of the year for Baylor.
In each of the Bears’ six wins, Baylor has had a different leading scorer each contest. Sophomore Darianna Littlepage-Buggs led the way for the Bears at SMU, turning in her first double-double of the season with 24 points and 11 rebounds.
Sunday’s game will be the second-straight nationally-televised game for the Bears. Baylor will be featured on eight total national broadcasts this year and are 8-6 in nationally televised games over the last three seasons.
SCOUTING THE DUCKS AND THE SERIES
Oregon enters Sunday’s contest with a 4-2 ledger, dropping two of its last three. Baylor is 4-0 all-time against the Ducks, last meeting in the national semifinals in 2019. The Bears used a 72-67 win to advance to the national title game before eventually winning its third national championship.
This will be the third time in five meetings between the two programs that the game is featured on a national broadcast. The Ducks have advanced to the postseason every year since 2015-16, with five trips to the NCAA Tournament in the seven-year span. Oregon’s Grace VanSlooten is averaging a team-leading 16.3 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while three other Ducks are averaging double figures on the floor.
