BREAKING: Baylor set to hire Khenon Hall as its next RB coach
Baylor is set to hire Khenon Hall, currently the running backs coach and running back coordinator at SMU, as its next running backs coach. Hall will also receive the associate head coach title. ESPN’s Pete Thamel first reported the news.
Hall joined the SMU program for the 2022 season after serving as the running backs coach at Texas Southern (2021) and Illinois State. Hall was at Illinois State for seven seasons and served his alma mater in multiple positions, including running backs coach, recruiting coordinator and ultimately assistant head coach in charge of player personnel.
Known as an up-and-coming recruiter in the industry, Hall played a significant role in SMU landing one four-star prospect in SMU’s 2024 class athlete Derrick McFall (Tyler High) and three in the 2025 class, including quarterback Keelon Russell (Duncanville), running back Rickey Stewart (Chapel Hill), and athlete Demetrius Brisbon (Chapel Hill).
At SMU, Hall’s running back room helped the Mustangs to national rankings of seventh in red zone offense, 12th in scoring offense and 14th in total offense. The Mustangs’ 331 first downs set a program record, while the 1,005 total plays rank second. The 2022 squad also posted top-three program marks in scoring (3rd, 484) and total offense (3rd, 6147).
Hall is a graduate of South Oak Cliff High School in Dallas, Texas.
