Shadow Creek 2025 Wide Receiver Ashton Jones Commits to Baylor

Pearland (TX) Shadow Creek High School wide receiver Ashton Jones‍ has committed to Baylor. He becomes commit No. 4 in the class and the first wide receiver.

“Really just the coaches, I feel the love and I feel like they believe in me and they really want to see me succeed in all ways possible and it’s close to home!,” he said.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound prospect has been able to build a strong relationship with his lead recruiter, Dallas Baker, throughout the recruiting process. But he has also been able to get to know Baylor’s Head Coach Dave Aranda really well as he has also played a big role in his recruitment.

“I have a strong relationship with almost every coach on the staff and mostly coach Dallas Baker we’ve grown really close over the last few months,” he said. “My mom loves Baylor, it’s close to home, and coach Dave Aranda and coach Dallas Baker make it know that they can help me get to where I want to be as a person and player.”

He finished his junior season with 196 receiving yards and three touchdowns in eight games played.

“Coach Dallas Baker likes that I can stretch the field and go get the ball with my frame and he’s wants to maximize my size and I want to be maximized as a receiver,” he said.

Dave Aranda has made some adjustments to his coaching staff especially with the hiring of Cal offensive coordinator Jake Spavital this offseason to help improve a struggling offense.

“Man coach Jake Spavital’s offense and Coach Dave Aranda’s drive to move that team in the right direction, it’s just a lot of pros going on right now at Baylor and being apart of that sounds special.” he said.

Jones chose Baylor over offers from Oregon, Arizona State, Minnesota, Vanderbilt, Washington State, UTSA, and Houston among others.

Currently he is ranked as a three-star, 88-overall prospect on SicEm365. He is a three-star, 86-overall prospect on 247 which makes him the 103rd ranked player in the state for the 2025 class. On3 ranks him as an 86-overall prospect and the No. 99 player in the state.
