Toledo Transfer QB Dequan Finn Set to Visit Baylor Today

Toledo quarterback Dequan Finn entered the transfer portal on December 5th and is now slated to start his official visit to Baylor later this afternoon. 

This past season, the first-team All-MAC and MAC Most Valuable Player selection accounted for 2,657 yards and 22 touchdowns through the air while adding 563 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. He led the Rockets to an 11-2 season and an appearance in the MAC Championship Game.

In his three seasons as starting quarterback for Toledo he has totaled nearly 7,000 yards passing and 63 touchdowns to go along with 1,700 yards and 25 rushing touchdowns. During that time, has led Toledo to a 7-6 season, a 9-5 season (MAC Championship), and an 11-2 season.

According to the Athletic he is the No. 3 rated veteran quarterback behind on Oklahoma’s Dillon Gabriel and Oregon State’s DJ Uiagalelei. On3 rates him as the No. 11 overall quarterback in the transfer portal while 247 has him No. 8.

Finn is the only transfer quarterback with a Baylor offer at this time making him the priority at the position for the time being. With him on campus this early on in the process it will give the staff the first crack at landing a game changer at the position. Keep in mind many quarterbacks make their decision after early visits as we have seen numerous top quarterbacks already decide on their next destination.

He has one year of eligibility remaining.

He'd be a huge pickup and have a great chance at starting. just have to beat out Sawyer Robertson, who's only really looked good for about one half of football or so. I'm not sure what Michigan and USC's quarterback rooms look like, but I would bet they're a lot more robust than ours

No idea why Michigan is chasing him. Unless they think J.J is turning pro. USC is probably a bigger threat as I imagine they will offer him the starting job and loads of $$

I think I saw he had an offer from Cincy back in the day when they were humming along. He chose Toledo. Maybe he'll choose the bears.

If we can land Finn with Sawyer already here, that should give us and edge when recruiting players from Mark Twain High School in Missouri.

With Kyle McCord in the portal, I wouldn't rule out Ohio State making him an offer..I understand they're also interested in Maalik..

I'm going to predict that Dave takes a depth player like that central Michigan kid or another RJ Martinez type and then calls it good. Maybe we have a bunch of silent commits lined up waiting to announce en masse, but it sure feels like this new running back coach, offensive line coach, and offensive coordinator have provided negligible momentum on the recruiting trail.

I've always thought that was most likely, and frankly I'd be OK with it because I'd like to see what Sawyer Robertson can do with the job.

I got my hopes up when we got a visit from Finn because he'd be a potential difference maker, but I've always expected a backup from the portal, not a starter.

Starting caliber portal QBs go places they're guaranteed to start and have a good chance to win. Neither is necessarily true at Baylor.

Calm down and give credit where credit is due. It was a good pickup. Posting a link to a stat sheet doesn't prove whatever point you're trying to prove. Constantly playing the downer contrarian doesn't make you cool. And I'm saying this as somebody who has been very negative about Mack and Dave
