WACO, Texas – The No. 13 Baylor women’s basketball team hits the road for its first of two meetings with Oklahoma State on Sunday.

Tip-off from Gallagher-Iba Arena is set for 1 p.m. on ESPNU with Brenda VanLengen and Sheryl Swoops on the call. A live radio broadcast will be available on ESPN Central Texas (1660 AM/92.3 FM) and live in-game updates will be provided via Twitter and live stats.

STARTING FIVE

Baylor is seeking its second conference road win of the season at Oklahoma State on Sunday. The Bears are 2-2 in true road games this year after picking up a non-con victory at SMU and conference-opening win at Texas and dropping a pair of Big 12 games at Kansas and Iowa State.

Graduate senior Aijha Blackwell is the only player on the roster with more than 800 career rebounds and needs just 34 boards to reach 1,000. She’s finished in double figures on the glass in four of the last five games.

Sarah Andrews has 209 career 3-pointers and needs 50 more to break Odyssey Sim’s record of 258. The senior guard has hit at least one from range in 16 of 18 games this year.

In Baylor’s 77-74 win over UCF on Jan. 20, the Bears shot 50% (27-of-54) from the floor as a team and moved to 18-1 in the Nicki Collen era when shooting 50% or better from the field. Additionally, Baylor is 266-2 all-time when shooting at least 50% from the floor.

Sunday’s nationally televised game on ESPNU marks the fifth national broadcast of the season for the Bears and second-straight contest aired on the big screen. Baylor’s home game against No. 10 Texas on Thursday will be the third-straight nationally televised game for the Bears and first one of the year on ESPN.

AMONG THE BEST

The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and WBCA announced this week that Sarah Andrews and Dre’Una Edwards are top-10 candidates for the Nancy Lieberman Award and Katrina McClain Award, respectively. Andrews is the only individual from the Big 12 represented on the Nancy Lieberman Award list and Edwards is one of just two from the league on the power forward list.

Andrews, who earned a spot on three preseason watch lists, including the Nancy Lieberman Award, has started all 18 games for the Bears this season. Edwards has also started all 18 games for the Bears this season and she has reached double-figure scoring in a team-leading 15 of 18 games this season.

SCOUTING THE SERIES WITH OKLAHOMA STATE

Baylor leads the all-time series against the Cowgirls, 48-13, and the Bears are 16-9 in Stillwater. Sunday’s contest marks the first of two meetings between the two programs during the 2023-24 regular season.

Oklahoma State swept the two-game series last season, putting up 70-plus point in both contests. Prior to the pair of losses last season, Baylor won 13-straight against the Cowgirls had won 28 of the last 30 dating back to the 2009-10 campaign.

I don't disagree with this. However, I think the silence for this game had more to do with it being a big NFL Sunday and with this being an ESPNU game as much as anything else.

Great 2nd half, Bears cranked it up a notch or two. Cruised to a 72-60 win.

i get that as well! i'm just happy we won, hope people show up thursday tbh at game will be huge if we want to even have a change at a top 4 team in the conference. I think K State could drop some games soon without Lee and then conference could get SUPERRR interesting

I watched the game with the NFL game on. BU played much better today. AB was a beast on the boards and in my opinion Bella was the difference maker.

Still no Madison. What is going on there?

Once Madison left k started to notice Kyla not even dressed out. I am not sure and surprised it has not been asked. She helped a lot with depth against Texas in Austin.

I am not going to tell anyone they can't criticize anything or post criticisms or critiques, far from it.

I am disappointed with a loss or seemingly poor play as anyone, but I choose not to pile on on a message thread for things the staff, players and anyone watching the team already know are deficiencies and certainly not make comments said in a manner that can only have a negative impact (if just on other fans), if any at all.

So if you are one that is apt to come on here and make extreme critical statements toward the team or coaches (any of our sports), what is the reason for doing so and what do you wish to be accomplished by doing so? I am not talking about legitimate discussion of what we see and what might be the cause or correction I am talking about criticism that goes far beyond that and crosses into the area of just debasing the team or coaches in a manner meant to do so, not to provide any type of critique that would be construed as constructive.

I just want to understand the reasons for criticizing to the extreme. And the poster is right, typically those posters are no where to be found when things are going well. I guess all message boards see this, but this site is the only one I follow. It has been this way for years and for all of our highly visible sports and coaches.

I will definitely take this win, double digits on the road against a team that swept us last year.

I think we had seven turnovers in the first seven minutes, probably due to players trying really hard to make something happen. The entire rest of the game we only had seven more, which is great as fast as we play. While we were 0-8 to start the game from 3PT range, we then went 6 for 15 the rest of the way, right at 40 percent. Apart from Blackwell, we were money from the charity stripe. Hopefully we can build on those positive developments against Texas.

This thread was started late so all the posts during the game were elsewhere.

Has anyone seen any news on Booker? She is a vital part of the Horns.

She tweaked her hamstring in practice. Seems like she's day-to-day but it's unclear whether she'll play Thursday

"Day-to-day" is coach-speak for either trying to not let the next opponent know the player will be out, having no clue as to how long they will be out, or if a few instances, it means what it says.

For completely different reasons, isn't that what KM kept saying about Danielle Wilson?

Yeah I'm not sure I should've characterized it that way. In the press conference Vic said she wanted to play versus Cincy. I feel like a hamstring injury means at least a wk--but I'm not well versed in that area
