 Softball

• Baylor softball went 3-1 last weekend picking up its second-straight conference sweep over BYU on the road.

• The Bears are now 28-19 on the season and sitting at No. 18 in the RPI standings. 

• BU will host Houston for its final conference series of the season Friday-Saturday, May 3-5, at Getterman Stadium.

Acrobatics & Tumbling

• Baylor won all three meets en route to its ninth-consecutive NCATA Championship, defeating #8 Fairmont State, #4 Oregon and #3 Gannon, respectively.

• The Bears won their first championship in 2015 at Fairmont under Mulkey.

• BU swept the major awards with Riley Chimwala earning Most Outstanding Athlete of the Year, Jordan Gruendler as Specialist of the Year and Payton Washington as Freshman of the Year. Those three plus Bayley Humphrey were named All-America, with Gruendler also named All-Academic. 30 Bears were named to the Honor Roll.

• Baylor won seven individual event National Championships as well, in 5-element acro, 6-element acro, 7-element acro, inversion pyramid, 450 Salto toss, aerial tumbling and open tumbling pass.

Baseball

• BSB plays eight of its remaining 12 regular-season games at home at Baylor Ballpark in Waco.

• BU’s nine conference wins are its most since the 2021 season.

• The Bears currently sit tied for ninth place in the league with three weekend series left.

• Since April 5, senior infielder Cole Posey is leading the team with a .396 batting average, four home runs and 14 RBIs.

• Posey notched his first-career multi-HR game on Sunday with a pair of blasts in his first two AB’s at West Virginia.

• Junior outfielder Wesley Jordan’s 31-game on-base streak is the longest by a Bear since current Texas Rangers infielder Davis Wendzel reached in 37-straight in 2018. 

Men’s Tennis

• MT was selected to its 26th-consecutive NCAA Tournament with an at-large bid to the College Station Regional, beginning the first round against No. 18 San Diego on Friday morning at 10. With a win on Friday, the Bears would play the winners of Texas A&M and Rice on Saturday at 4 p.m.

• BU is 5-4 in the Big Dance in College Station, playing in the first weekend once in 2018, the super regionals in 2002, 2005, and 2009 and the final site again in 2005. Baylor has a 67-24 record in the tournament, boosted from a 42-5 record in the first two rounds. 

 Women’s Tennis

• Baylor WT made its 25th NCAA Tournament, earning a bid to the NCAA Stanford Regional, facing off with No. 31 LSU on Friday at 12 p.m. CT.

• The Bears have advanced to 18 NCAA Tournaments under Coach Joey Scrivano, including four straight, and are 39-20 all-time in the tournament.

• The Bears will face LSU on Friday with a potential matchup against No. 2 Stanford on Saturday. 

Track & Field

• Wrapped up the regular season in Arizona at the Desert Heat Classic on Saturday with three event wins.

• Nathaniel Ezekiel (400m), Molly Haywood (pole vault) and the men’s 4x400 relay took the top stops in the single-day meet, with a big open-400 PR from Ezekiel and a seasons best time from the men’s 4x4.

• Five BU athletes rank in the top 10 nationally: No. 3 Nathaniel Ezekiel (400H), Zaza Prosper Nnamdi (javelin), No. 4 Alexis Brown (long jump), Molly Haywood (pole vault) and No. 9 Alencia Lentz (pole vault)

• BU currently has 28 entires qualified in the top 48 individuals and top 24 relays to the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds in Fayetteville May 22-25.

• Final preparations are underway for the 2024 Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships, beginning Thursday morning at the Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium. Tickets are on sale now through the Baylor Athletics Ticket Office.

Men’s Golf

• Baylor men’s golf is coming off a fourth-place finish at the Big 12 Championship at Whispering Pines.

• The fourth-place finish tied its best mark since it finished fourth in 2002.

• Johnny Keefer finished tied for sixth earning Big 12 All-Tournament Team honors, for the first time in his career.

• BU will learn it’s NCAA regional destination on Wednesday at 1pm in a live selection show on Golf Channel.

Women’s Golf

• Women’s golf was selected as a No. 7 seed in the Las Vegas Regional to be held at Spanish Trail Country Club, May 6-8.

• The Bears have been to seven-straight postseasons as a team and have had representation in the postseason every year since Jay Goble arrived in June of 2011.

• BU enters this postseason as one of just eight schools to advance to five of the last six NCAA Championships.
