Baylor Baseball: Jordan, Calder, Posey Earn All-Big 12 Honors
IRVING, Texas – Baylor baseball’s DH Wesley Jordan (Jr.) received Second-Team All-Big 12 recognition while LHP Ethan Calder (So.) and INF Cole Posey (Sr.) earned Honorable Mention All-Big 12, as announced by the conference office Monday.
In his first season in the green and gold after transferring from Navarro College, Jordan led the Bears in batting average (.351) during conference play, home runs (9), slugging percentage (.632) and on-base percentage (.455).
Jordan holds a team-long 34-game on-base steak and is the first Baylor player since Davis Wendzel (37) in 2018 to reach safely in 30 consecutive contests. The star slugger routinely showcased his “light tower” power at the plate this year, even launching a 476-foot moonshot against Texas Tech earlier in the spring.
On the mound, Calder was BU’s most reliable arm this season; he had the fourth-lowest earned run average (3.23) among qualified pitchers in the Big 12. The sophomore southpaw led the Bears' pitching staff in WHIP (1.11), wins (5) and saves (2).
During a stretch from Feb. 25 to April 19, Calder surrendered just four earned runs and issued two walks while racking up 28 strikeouts across 30.2 innings on the mound. In a come-from-behind win over Texas on March 22, the Lake Travis product earned the victory and tossed four no-hit frames out of the bullpen.
Meanwhile, Posey was second on the Bears in batting average (.342), slugging percentage (.534) and on-base percentage (.422) during conference play. In the month of April, Posey was 23-for-52 at the plate with nine extra-base hits and 15 RBIs.
The Georgetown native was a major contributor on last year’s team but played sparingly across the first half of this season. After several injuries to key players, the coaching staff held an impromptu tryout to play first base before the Incarnate Word series in early April. Posey won the job despite never playing first base before and rounded out the final season of his collegiate career with All-Big 12 honors.
