It sounds to me that Zach felt he won the job in camp and should have been the starter all along. I think Rhule brought his transfer in and wanted to play his guy. Success with Zach would have been contributed to Briles and he wanted to play his recruits to assure he got the credit.
Maybe, maybe not. I think the bigger problem here is that CMR only likes to run certain types of schemes and has no idea of how to best utilize the track star speed that he inherited from AB. That's why we are seeing so many Freshmen playing and why CMR has said that the cupboard is bare. He doesn't know how to use what he has, so he plays the guys he recruited because he knows how to use them. It's the same excuse he used for his first year at Temple when he was playing a bunch of true Freshmen...according to one of the visitors we recently had posting here from Temple. Apparently the fans there thought they had the talent to win 5 or 6 games that year, but CMR said the cupboard was bare and played true Freshmen...resulting in 2 (I think) wins on the season. It eventually worked out for them there, and hopefully it will here as well.
As for Zach, I can't say why he hasn't played more than a couple of downs. Maybe he can impress this week and solidify his spot in the lineup. I do think that our returning players will play harder for Zach....I guess we will find out Saturday.
