Lorena (TX) High School 2025 defensive lineman Jackson Blackwell‍ has committed to Baylor over Texas Tech, Arizona, Houston, and Kansas State among others. He becomes the first defensive tackle added to the 2025 class.

BAYLOR 2025 RECRUITING COMMITMENT LIST

“I took Baylor into consideration the same way as all the other schools. I [chose] them because of the coaching staff, facilities, and culture,” he said. “I found them to be just as good or better in all those categories. The location does play a factor, and that is pretty nice since it’s just down the road. They have as good of a culture and coaching staff as anyone I have seen. The coaches put a lot of faith in me and believed in me. I can’t wait to get out there and ball.”

Blackwell’s recruitment blew up following Under Armor Camp in March where he took home defensive line MVP honors. It was a terrific showing for him and one that set the course of his national recruitment as all six of his Power 4 offers came shortly after that day.

As a junior, he posted 56 tackles, 10 for loss, and 2.5 sacks

His measurements are 6-foot-3, 311 pounds with a 79-inch wingspan and 10.75-inch hand. Mix those measurements with a rumored 4.56 shuttle and a 31.6-inch vertical, and it’s clear why he was a major priority target for multiple schools.

Blackwell has also posted massive personal records in powerlifting competitions as he has a 720-pound squat, a 500-pound bench press, and a 605-pound deadlift – the strength is definitely where it needs to be for him heading into college.

He is a consensus high three-star prospect. His highest ranking comes on ESPN, where he is rated as the No. 65 overall prospect in the state of Texas.

Blackwell will be enrolling early at Baylor in January.

It was a GREAT commitment win for the staff over some tough competition. That being said… the words he chose and tone about shutting down his commitment is what I expect from 99% of recruits. Essentially it's over until it is not over and if Oregon brings a large NIL deal to the table at the last minute then bring on the $ bag.
