Houston (TX) Cy Falls High School linebacker Kaleb Burns‍ has flipped his commitment from Texas Tech to Baylor. He becomes commit No. 19 in the 2025 class and the second linebacker joining Trent Spence‍.

BAYLOR 2025 RECRUITING COMMITMENT LIST

Burns took a surprise unofficial visit to Waco for Baylor’s VIB Day over the weekend because of his relationships within the program but also due to the recent momentum the Bears have picked up on the recruiting trail.

“Yeah it for sure did,” he said. “Having players like Taz Williams‍ and Michael Turner‍ reaching out to me and saying they want me out there is major. It plays a big part in it. They were in my ear at VIB Day saying come home.”

The 6-foot-1, 215-pound prospect has grown and maintained a strong relationship with his lead recruiter, Jamar Chaney, even though his initial recruiter was Christian Robinson before he departed for Alabama this offseason.

“Coach Jamar Chaney is a great guy,” he said. “Him coming from the league and knowing a lot shows he has experience. Whatever he tells you he means it because he has experience in what he does and what he coaches which is great.”

Burns is particularly interested in Dave Aranda's new role working with the linebackers and being the defensive coordinator this season.

“It means a lot. It means we will be great on defense,” he said. “They are going to be great on defense this year; I feel like they are going to do a lot better this year. That’s just going to be a great team.”

The consistency of the Baylor program and the changes made have really stood out to Burns throughout his recruitment as the staff has made him feel like a priority from the beginning.

“Getting some new staff, getting a new DC, how they just came early to recruit me and kept it up. It means a lot and shows they really want me,” he said. “I feel like they are doing great things and will keep on going up.”

The 16-6A District MVP posted 86 tackles, 26 for loss, seven sacks, 11 QB hurries, two forced fumbles, an interception, and six pass breakups.

He chose Baylor over Texas Tech, TCU, SMU, Arizona, Florida, Tennessee, and Utah among others.

Burns is a consensus high three-star prospect. His highest ranking comes on On3, which has him ranked as the 67th-ranked player in Texas.
