NEW YORK, N.Y. – Baylor football senior wide receiver Hal Presley has been named to the 2024 Comeback Player of the Year Award Watch List, as announced Wednesday by the College Sports Communicators (CSC, formerly CoSIDA), in association with The Associated Press (AP) and the Fiesta Bowl Organization.

Since 2018, the award has recognized college football student-athletes for overcoming injury, illness, or other circumstances. At the conclusion of each season, in a vote by a panel of college football writers, editors and sports information directors, three college football student-athletes are honored as Comeback Player of the Year Award winners at the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl.

Presley started in each of BU’s first six games of the 2023 season, catching 17 passes for 222 yards before suffering a season-ending injury. He was previously named an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selection in 2022 after racking up 382 receiving yards on 32 receptions with four touchdowns, including a catch in all 13 of Baylor’s games. In three seasons with the Bears, Presley has caught 50 passes for 619 yards and four TDs. The native of Mansfield, Texas, enters the 2024 season healthy and is projected to be a key member of BU’s rotation at wide receiver.

Presley is one of 90 college football student-athletes from 68 different schools named to the preseason watch list.

Baylor’s most recent Comeback Player of the Year Award winner was Terrel Bernard in 2021, as the star linebacker earned honorable mention praise and a $2,500 donation to Baylor’s general scholarship fund was made in his name.

Is there a comeback head coach watch list?

If less than 7-8 wins this year, he won't be coming back next year.

Good selection. If Finn has time to get the ball downfield, Hal could have a huge fall in a Spavital offensive scheme. Great intermediate target who has improved his route running, has height and reach and hands are also pretty good.

Maybe having an actual FBS QB now will help his career?
