Update: Dominic Richardson Leaves Crowded Baylor Running Back Room

WACO, Texas —  Senior running back Dominic Richardson is no longer with the Baylor football program, according to head coach Dave Aranda.

“Dom is off the team,” Aranda said at his weekly press conference on Monday. “He’s got another year [of eligibility] and wants to be able to use it. I wish Dom the best. I want to be able to see him get healthy number one and find a spot where he can achieve his goals and play more than he was playing here.”

Richardson has not played for the Bears since the matchup versus BYU on Sept. 28. He has only played in four contests this season and has the option to redshirt. Richardson ends his Baylor career with 628 yards and one touchdown on 156 attempts in 15 games.

“Running-back wise, we’ve had some production there, and the rotation probably wasn’t what [Richardson] wanted,” Aranda added.

The emergence of redshirt freshman running back Bryson Washington (576 rushing yards, seven touchdowns on 96 attempts), as well as the improvement of sophomore tailback Dawson Pendergrass (395 rushing yards, three touchdowns, 64 carries), has impacted Richardson’s ability to see the field.
