Much easier said than done imo. These are multi year guys who just simply aren't good enough. And I'm sure it's not for lack of effort.
It's incredibly hard to scheme around poor safety play

I'm wondering what the issue is with the secondary. Is it a speed issue, recognition issue, or training issue? I admit I don't watch plays specifically focused on the secondary lately, especially since they're just in a soft zone. But I wonder.

If it's a development issue, then one can hope they develop. If it's a talent issue, then I guess there's little hope at all.

1) lack of speed
2) poor development

4.6-4.7 safeties can't cover 4.4 receivers very well. What we see week in and week out are our safeties following receivers with their backs to the ball. You have to have speed to keep receivers in front of you, and the development to know how to look back and find the football and react to it. We have neither on the back end.

It's the result of recruiting average HS DB's and trying to make safeties out of them. Rhule always went after track guys at safety then developed them over 2-3 years. Without the speed, nothing will change.

Speed is part of it. But the instincts of our safeties is rather horrendous. They see/react late to almost everything. We see that constantly with horrible angles and WR's running past them before they even process. The reality is we're stuck with them for 3 more games and they'll continue getting absolutely abused. No idea what year they are but that HAS to be a priority this off season. Can't start the 25 season with those 2 at the safety position

We have coachable coverage problems exacerbated by a lack of consistent pass rush. I'd play them back and have them move in versus playing up and letting receivers get past them up the field.

Powledge just looks like a disaster.

Lack of pressure is definitely a problem.

He should be a special teams coordinator exclusively. He's good at that.

If you're going to zone the secondary, you've got to put pressure on the QB or he will pick you apart.

I'm not sure I'll ever get over the stupidity of this secondary on the last play of the Colorado game. I don't think you can coach that level of stupidity out of them.
