Baylor Women's Basketball Adds Marcayla Johnson on National Signing Day
WACO, Texas – Baylor women’s basketball head coach Nicki Collen announced the signing of Marcayla Johnson as part of National Signing Day on Wednesday.
“We are so excited to add Marcayla to the Baylor Family,” said Collen. “I first started watching Marcayla the summer I arrived at Baylor, and we made her a priority because of her motor, competitiveness and athletic ability. Marcayla is a combo guard with elite mid-range scoring ability, as well as the ability to attack the rim. She has continued to develop her game, extending her range to the arc.”
A product of Tulsa’s Booker T. Washington High School in Oklahoma, Johnson is a six-foot guard ranked 41st in ESPNW’s HoopGurlz class of 2025 rankings. A four-star pickup ranked 38th by 247Sports, Johnson is the sixth-best player out of Oklahoma in this recruiting class.
Johnson competes with the Lady Drive Nation AAU squad in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL).
“Marcayla is a great kid from an awesome family, and our fans will love seeing her tenacity on the court and her servant heart off the court,” Collen said.
Baylor women's basketball is presented by Central National Bank, a family-owned, independent bank headquartered in Waco, Texas, that provides uniquely personal service while simultaneously embracing the latest developments in banking technology.
