In The Web: What 'They' are Saying About Baylor in Week 13

Any concerns of Baylor’s momentum coming to a halt after its second bye week of the season were erased. The offense exploded against West Virginia as the Bears cruised past the Mountaineers 49-35 to capture their first program win in Morgantown.

Everyone could see the potential in quarterback Sawyer Robertson (RJr.), but now that the offensive line has finally come together, Baylor has flourished offensively, and the analytics back it up.

Robertson continues to thrive in Baylor’s new offense under the guidance of first-year offensive coordinator Jake Spavital. His 329 passing yards against West Virginia were a career-high, and he shows no signs of slowing down his progressions. The college football world is starting to take notice of Robertson as the accolades continue to pile up.

One person who’s no stranger to knowing what it takes to be a successful quarterback at Baylor and what it takes to play in the NFL is Robert Griffin III. The former Heisman Trophy winner gave Robertson and crew their flowers following Saturday’s victory.

Even through the lows over the past couple of seasons, the players never lost faith in what head coach Dave Aranda was selling in the locker room. There has been a lot of outside noise surrounding Aranda’s future with the program, but it never truly made sense to want to force him out the door.

All of the speculation was finally put to bed as the Bears became bowl-eligible on Saturday and continue to make a push for laying the groundwork for a successful future. Baylor made it official over the weekend that Aranda would return as head coach.

Brett McMurphy of Action Network has consistently had Baylor making the Rate Bowl and squaring off with a Big Ten opponent over the past few weeks but is now projecting the Bears to play Arkansas in the Texas Bowl in Houston.

Regardless of where they end up, the Bears are going bowling this season. Baylor will be on the road again this week against Houston, with a 6 p.m. kickoff on FS1.
