HOUSTON – Baylor women’s basketball (19-5, 9-2) earned a dominant wire-to-wire 92-47 victory over the Houston Cougars (5-18, 1-11) on Wednesday evening at the Fertitta Center.

Five different Bears — Yaya Felder (15), Jada Walker (14), Aaronette Vonleh (12) and Aliyah Matharu (11) — scored in double figures in the win, with star forward Darianna Littlepage-Buggs (Jr.) leading the way with an all-around performance in which she scored 19 points on 9-of-12 shooting, grabbed seven rebounds, dished out a career-high six assists and recorded three blocks.

In the victory, Littlepage-Buggs eclipsed 1,000 points in her career and joins five other Bears on the active roster — Sarah Andrews (Sr.), Felder, Walker and Vonleh — who have scored at least 1,000 points in their collegiate careers.

Baylor shot 58% (37-64) from the floor and 46% (11-24) from deep. The Bears out-rebounded the Cougars 49-29 and totaled 29 assists in the win.

Minutes into the contest, Baylor jumped out to a 7-0 lead but struggled to keep its foot on the gas for the rest of the first period. The Bears turned the ball over seven times and led 14-13 at the end of the first quarter against the short-handed Cougars, who had just six players available on Wednesday.

Baylor’s sloppy play continued into the opening minutes of the second quarter. It wasn’t until the five-minute mark that the Bears found their rhythm. Baylor went on a 16-4 run to close the first half and led 38-21 going into the halftime locker room.

The rally was sparked by a 3-point barrage with makes coming from Andrews and Matharu, as well as forward Kayla Nelms (Fr.). Andrews and Matharu combined for 20 points and shot 4-for-8 from beyond the arc in the win.

Houston’s tired legs began to show in the second half as Baylor outscored the Cougars, 54-25, in the final two quarters. Felder scored 10 of her 15 points in the second half.

Baylor (19-5, 9-2) will return home for a matchup against BYU (11-10, 2-8) at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, at Foster Pavilion. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.

Good road win against a shorthanded team. I'll take every W. Buggs was a beast. Scored her 1000th point and added more. Blocked shots, rebounded, and scored (1 3 pt). Good three point shooting from the team.
