South Oak Cliff LB Jamarion Phillips Sets Baylor Official Visit
South Oak Cliff 2026 linebacker Jamarion Phillips has set his official visit to Baylor for June 13-15 as the Bears continue to prioritize the elite prospect.
Phillips visited for Baylor’s Junior Day at the end of January. Shortly after, he was visited by head coach Dave Aranda, running backs coach Khenon Hall and linebackers coach Jamar Chaney just two days after the trip to Waco.
“[The visit] was good,” he said. “I liked the talk with Coach Jamar Chaney and Coach Khenon Hall. I liked how Coach Dave Aranda took the time to break things down about Baylor and made it known that they want me at Baylor and how they can help me develop as a player and a person.”
Phillips has only scheduled official visits to Baylor and Illinois in April. A couple of other schools that may get an official visit are Texas A&M, Arkansas and SMU, which are the other Power Four programs that stand out to Phillips at the moment.
“I am looking for just a good connection with the coaches,” he said. “Coaches that can help me develop and help me [reach] my goals.”
This fall, the 6-foot-1, 220-pound prospect posted 90 tackles, six for loss, three sacks, an interception and a forced fumble. As a sophomore, he finished with 95 tackles, 23 for loss and 14 sacks.
This feels like a recruitment Baylor has valued heavily for over a year, and the Bears are going all in on it. I like where Baylor is, but the coaching staff has to finish the deal to try and solidify one of the top linebackers in the nation.
Also, Phillips happens to be one of the most severely underrated players in the 2026 class. Turn on the film and check out his offer list, which includes Florida State, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Texas A&M and TCU, among many others. His composite ranking sits at No. 698 in the nation and No. 95 in Texas.
