Marriage to a team and loyalty to a school is no longer a thing in college football. The end of an era.

Exactly. The Rah-Rah days of college athletics are gone. It's a business now. I actually think this particular situation is a perfect representation of what college football is now. We got what we needed from Richard over 3 years. He doesn't fit into the offense any longer and he gets to move on and be immediately eligible to play somewhere else, so he gets what he needed from us. We shake hands and part ways, wishing each other best of luck in the future.

This is the new world of college athletics.

And the fans are the ones losing out. The schools can profit. The players can profit. The fans are just there to provide additional revenue. The fans are left to consider whether their team will look like anything like it just did that may have brought them great pleasure. How do you build any fan loyalty from those that didn't go to the school? I don't think you can for teams that are not bluebloods and will end up perfectly fine year after year. And for those that go to the non-blueblood school......endless frustration that no matter what you do, you are to an extent starting over every year with a new roster, save a few players that actually do care about their school.

You can't enjoy success because the thought is in the back of your head........are they going to leave?

I agree and it seems to be the case in all of the pro sports. Fans are dollar signs. Its one reason why I rarely go to a pro sports game anymore.

$14 hot dogs
$20 beers
$40 margaritas
+$200 seats

It's crazy. It's basically a tax on the middle class (and poor?) that distributes wealth upwards.
