The four-star prospect built some really good relationships with the coaching staff, from his position coach, Matthew Powledge, to head coach Dave Aranda, but it was his area recruiter, Khenon Hall, who led the charge in his recruitment.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound prospect posted 42 tackles and 12 pass breakups during his junior season. As a sophomore, he earned Texas District 6-5A D-I Defensive Newcomer of the Year after totaling 75 tackles, five interceptions and 10 pass breakups.
His versatility to play all three safety positions for the Bears was a big bonus for the staff during his recruitment, especially with his ability to anchor STAR or boundary.
Deck holds nearly 40 offers from schools across the country, but he chose the Bears over a final five of Colorado, Michigan, Penn State and UCLA.
He is a composite four-star prospect and a top 50 recruit in the state.
Deck has been a big piece of the puzzle for the staff at a position of need. Now, Deck and the staff will set their sights on landing the other member of the Frisco Lone Star duo, Davian Groce.
