Baylor football is bringing back one of its most iconic looks with plans to wear gold-chrome helmets in the season opener against Auburn. Let’s revisit the top five most memorable games when the Bears rocked the gold-chrome helmets.

No. 1 (Revivalry For The Ages): Baylor 61, TCU 58 (Oct. 11, 2014)

In arguably the most memorable game in Baylor football history, the Bears wiped out a 21-point deficit in the fourth quarter to take down the rival Horned Frogs, 61-58, with a 28-yard field goal from Chris Callahan.

Rocking the gold chrome helmets with green jerseys and pants, Bryce Petty put on a show, totaling 500-plus passing yards and six touchdowns. Wide receivers Antwan Goodley, Corey Coleman and KD Cannon combined for 424 receiving yards, while Shock Linwood ran for 178 yards on 29 carries.

No. 2 (Big 12 Clincher): Baylor 38, Kansas State 27 (Dec. 6, 2014)

The Bears clinched their second-straight Big 12 championship with a big win over No. 9 Kansas State under the McLane Stadium lights. Bryce Petty, who was cleared from concussion protocol just days before the game, got the party started with a rushing touchdown right out of the gates.

Petty solidified Baylor in College Football Playoff conversations with a magnificent performance, throwing for 412 yards and a touchdown on 34-of-40 passing.

No. 3 (Debut): Baylor 73, West Virginia 42 (Oct. 5, 2013)

When Baylor debuted the gold-chrome helmets for the first time in 2013, it took just 40 seconds for the Bears to get on the board when quarterback Bryce Petty connected with wide receiver Antwan Goodley on a 61-yard touchdown.

From that point on, it was off to the races as the Bears broke a Big 12 record, totaling 864 yards of offense. Running backs Shock Linwood and Lache Seastrunk combined for three scores and 298 rushing yards on 29 touches for an astounding 10 yards per carry.

No. 4 (Cotton Bowl): Michigan State 42, Baylor 41 (Jan. 1, 2015)

For better or for worse, the 2015 Cotton Bowl will forever live in infamy amongst the Baylor fanbase after the Bears blew a three-score lead in the fourth quarter alone, low-lighted by a potential 43-yard game-winning field goal that was blocked.

Shortly after, Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook found Keith Mumpherey for a 10-yard touchdown with just 17 seconds remaining, and Michael Geiger sank the extra point to blow the Bears' best chance at a New Year's Six Bowl win in over 50 years.

No. 5 (Lightning Delay): Baylor 35, Oklahoma State 24 (Sept. 24, 2016)

In what was once a promising 2016 season, the Bears opened conference play with a hard-fought win over the Cowboys following an hour-and-a-half lightning delay. Once play resumed, quarterback Seth Russell showcased why he was a dark horse Heisman candidate with 387 yards and four touchdowns through the air while totaling 65 yards on the ground.
