IRVING, Texas – Baylor women’s basketball redshirt sophomore Taliah Scott has been named Big 12 Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

In her first week as a Baylor Bear, Scott poured in 53 points, going a combined 16-for-34 from the floor and 7-for-17 from beyond the arc.

In BU’s upset win over No. 7 Duke in Paris, Scott’s 12-point fourth quarter lifted the Bears to a 5-point victory over the Blue Devils. She followed with 29 points in the home opener against Lindenwood, hitting five 3-pointers with a perfect 6-for-6 slate from the free-throw line.

Scott’s award is Baylor’s league-leading 96th all-time Player of the Week mention and the program’s 144th weekly honor.

The Big 12 Conference also chose Oklahoma State’s Lena Girardi as Freshman of the Week with Audi Crooks (Iowa State), Jaliya Davis (Kansas) and Jalynn Bristow (Texas Tech) rounding out the newly announced Top Performers for the Big 12 Starting Five.

BU is back on the road to face UNLV in Las Vegas on Friday at 8 p.m. CT. The game will air on CBS Sports Network and the Baylor Sports Media Network.

Baylor women's basketball is presented by Central National Bank, a family-owned, independent bank headquartered in Waco, Texas, that provides uniquely personal service while simultaneously embracing the latest developments in banking technology.
