Woodville (TX) High School 2027 quarterback Luke Babin‍ has committed to Baylor following his unofficial visit this past week. He becomes the fifth commit in the 2027 class.

BAYLOR 2027 RECRUITING CLASS COMMITMENT LIST

Babin decommitted from Vanderbilt in February after being committed to the Commodores for five months. Baylor was Babin’s second offer back in May 2024, and those initial relationships paid off as assistant quarterbacks coach Rhett Holcomb and offensive coordinator Jake Spavital quickly got the Bears back into contention.

Babin set an official visit in Waco for June 19; he took an unofficial visit on March 26 and ultimately committed. Babin holds offers from Houston, Vanderbilt, Texas Tech, TCU and Oklahoma State, among others.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder threw for 3,063 yards and 40 touchdowns while completing 63% of his passes in 2025. He also ran for 562 yards and seven scores. He led the Eagles to a 9-3 season.

As a sophomore, he completed 55.9% of his passes while throwing for 2,106 yards and 23 touchdowns. He added five rushing touchdowns and led Woodville to a 13-3 record and a state runner-up finish in Texas 3A D-II.

Babin is a composite four-star prospect, a top 300 prospect in the nation and the No. 39 overall recruit in Texas. ESPN has him rated the highest at 80 overall, a four-star prospect and the No. 16-ranked quarterback in the class.

It's a good offer list. Hope we can hold onto him, because 'committing' is kind of a meaningless term nowadays

Happy with this announcement. But I consider all of these "letters of intent". There are no commitments anymore. Sad.

I wonder if he'll stay or follow Spavital after the season.

Interesting in light of this comment:

Dave Aranda said he made the mistake of spending too much money on high school recruits who were standing on the sideline. He responded with his biggest roster overhaul by a longshot.

It really is sad that, due the current state of college football in general and the current state of Baylor football, news like this isn't as exciting as it used to be.

That's a very much where I'm at. Like, I'm not gonna sit here and act like it's not a good offer list, but there's just so much uncertainty with the team, and I think it's 50/50 at best whether Spavital is even here next year
