Baylor WBB Adds Elite Defender Skylar Jones from Transfer Portal
Louisville transfer Skylar Jones has announced her commitment to Baylor women’s basketball, according to her social media. Jones joins Utah’s Reese Ross, Ole Miss’ Tianna Thompson and Georgia’s Trinity Turner as the fourth addition in Baylor’s transfer portal haul.
Jones averaged 8.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals in just 16.6 minutes per game in her junior campaign with the Cardinals. She shot 44.6% from the field, 30.8% from beyond the arc and 74.0% from the free-throw line.
The 6-foot-0 wing ranked 32nd nationally and fourth in the ACC in Hoop-Explorer’s DRAPM. She posted a ridiculous 5.1% steal percentage.
Jones did not play in March Madness, as she and Louisville parted ways before the tournament.
Jones, a former top-100 recruit, played her first two college seasons at Arizona. She averaged a career-best 10.7 points per game as a sophomore.
The Louisville transfer projects currently as Baylor’s replacement for departing starter Bella Fontleroy, who exhausted her eligibility, on the wing. Jones has one year of eligibility remaining.
