Between The Lines: Baylor Defense's 5-11-3 Game Is Something To Cling To Moving Forward

The first thing that mattered in Atlanta was not the last yard. That sucked. No doubt. And it was a painstaking example of the failures, generally, of the last few seasons. My biggest takeaway from Saturday was Auburn having to invent answers before the game was 10 minutes old. It was obvious the difference, at least potentially, from the onset of the game was Baylor’s defense. New coordinator. New pieces. Dave Aranda no longer calling the defense. Joe Klanderman had months, not a full cycle, to fix a defense that spent the better part of three seasons wandering in the wilderness. The hiring of Klanderman and his scheme was never the question mark. It was, to me at least, how long it would take to get this thing going.
